She won two bronze medals for the freestyle events (400 m and 4×200 m relay) at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. Lee qualified for the women's 400 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 4:19.42 from Jeju Halla Cup in Jeju City. She challenged six other swimmers on the second heat, including Malaysia's Khoo Cai Lin and Venezuela's Yanel Pinto. She raced to fifth place by one second behind Puerto Rico's Kristina Lennox-Silva in 4:21.53.
